Portable Power Station

Hi

I hope to be doing a trip through the desert for 3 weeks later this year, so needed 12V power in the back of the ute to run the fridge plus bits and pieces. Problem was mounting a battery under the tray is possible but access is very limited, so while looking around saw a video on the 4wdSupaCentre https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPh8FLbXwMo while cool, was a bit expensive so here is what I did 🙂

Kings 45L Tough Front Opening Storage Box $99.00
VoltX 100 Ah 12V battery $469.00
MOBI 12V 20A DC to DC Battery Charger MPPT Dual Battery System Solar Lithium $150
Some 50A AMP 12V Circuit Breaker & Cover Dual Battery Fuse Automatic Auto Reset CB50 $10.00 each
Old inverter
4 Grey Anderson plugs
1 Red Anderson plug
2 x Cig sockets
1 x USB QC3.0 socket (waiting on one with volt meter built in)
Temperature gauge (monitor internal box temp)
So there is a ply bottom the battery sits on to allow it to be strapped down and on the side. The red Anderson is the solar input, and the grey on this side is input from the car. Note the feed from the car is already switched with the ignition so this will use power from the car when every it is present. Bolts visible have pieces of wood on the inside and the strap to hold the battery against the side is between the wood and the box.

The charger is mounted upright at the back, the inverter is on it’s side (would not be used without the box being open so no heat issues there). Between the charger and the battery the auto reset breakers are mounted with a terminal for positive and negative.

There are 3 Anderson plugs for output (last one is for fridge only). On the left Temperature gauge, USB power, and 2 cig sockets.

Closes up with room for some cables inside.
