Knots

So many know some knots and I do not claim to be a master guru or anything like that, just want to help other know a little more than when you opened this page.

Thumb Knot

So to start the good old thumb knot, this can be used as an end but two together can join a rope with a lot of strength.

Bowline

The bowline creates a loop that does not slip and high strength.

Figure of Eight

By it’s self, this provides a good big lump that will not pass through a hole.

Figure Eight Joiner

So a figure eight by it’s self does not do a lot, but this will join two ropes of similar thickness together with almost no loss of strength, this can be used to make a loop too (people abseiling use a loop to connect the ropes at to top of the cliff).

Clove Hitch

Connect a rope to a pole.

Clove Hitch with Half Hitch

Connect a rope to a pole but a half hitch locks the knot.

Guide Rope Knot

This sliding knot is great for guide ropes as it locks in place.

Reef Knot

Joins ropes but easily rolls into two half hitches.

Sheet Bend

Works for joining ropes and works with dramatically different rope diameters, sailors use this for pulling larger ropes to other ships.

Sheet Bend Double Loop

Works for joining ropes and works with dramatically different rope diameters, sailors use this for pulling larger ropes to other ships.

Have fun and be safe everyone
